Market Place London launches in Peckham
The news follows the closure of the team’s previous Peckham venue, located at the same site
London’s street food restaurant and bar brand, Market Place London, has announced it will be opening the doors to a new venue in Peckham’s high street later this summer.
The news follows the closure of the team’s previous Peckham venue, located at the same site.
Located at Unit 10, The Aylesham Centre, the new Market Place Peckham site will feature new interiors and a variety of food options from ten street food vendors.
The new venue will be launched under the management of general manager, Jonny Wallis, who has been in the hospitality industry for over 25 years, having worked on the opening team of national food brand, Turtle Bay, where he helped to grow the brand from the ground up.
The first vendor to join the new line up is authentic Thai street food slingers KraPow, serving its “high-end” fried chicken menu which includes Buttermilk Thai Fried Chicken sandwich and spicy pumpkin fritters with roasted chilli jam.
Million pound menu winner and Indian-inspired burger connoisseurs at Baba G’s will also be joining the team and serving its “famous” Bhangra burgers, spiced popcorn shrimp and Celeriac Bhajis.
The third vendor to be announced is up-and-coming Hawaiian street food brand Huli Huli, offering authentic Hawaiian food such as Huli Huli Chicken and Ribs with grilled pineapple and a range of homemade sauces and spices, such as Pineapple Mango Chilli Ketchup.
The new site joins the team’s three other locations in Vauxhall, Harrow and Hounslow.
Jonny Wallis, general manager of Market Place Peckham, said: “Market Place is an ambitious brand that has already grown so much over the past year. It’s clear they have an incredible future ahead, and a successful recipe for success – one that places great quality food, support for independents and fun experiences at its core.
“I’m really excited to be joining them on this journey, and look forward to helping them take the brand to the next level by building a community around the vibrant new site at Market Place Peckham.”
Blake Henderson, managing director of Market Place London, said: “Peckham is such an important venue for us that holds a special place in our hearts. We’re proud to be a part of the local community in the heart of south London’s lively cultural scene, and we want to contribute as best we can, giving the people of Peckham a really unique and memorable experience when they visit us. Our new general manager Jonny, brings so much experience to the role, and it’s exciting to have him onboard.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming plenty of new talent to Market Place Peckham when we launch too. For us, the Market Place brand has always been about giving small independent street food brands the opportunity to establish a presence on a busy high street at a fraction of the cost of a standalone site. And that’s certainly no exception at our new Peckham site. We already have some truly fantastic vendors on board, and we’re excited to reveal the full line-up over the coming weeks, so watch this space.”
