Mother Clucker launches first UK bricks and mortar site

It comes after the fried chicken brand was acquired by Byron owner, Famously Proper Ltd

Mother Clucker is set to open its first UK bricks and mortar site in Islington, London, following its acquisition by Famously Proper Ltd, the owner of Byron Burgers.

After acquiring Mother Clucker, and having taken it UK nationwide via delivery kitchens last year, the group is preparing to launch the first Mother Clucker high street restaurant on 6 June in Islington.

The Upper Street site will feature communal tables and a full menu of tea brined, buttermilk soaked and double dunked crispy chicken burgers, strips, wings, wraps and Chicken and Waffles. Also available are cajun, filthy, cheesy or naked fries, tots, gravy, tangy and hot sauces, as well as milkshakes, chilled beer and other drinks.

Inspired by the food truck Mother Clucker originated from, the new restaurant has been designed with “ease and speed in mind, whilst not compromising on aesthetics or an air of relaxed fun”. The design team used upcycled and recycled materials on over 70% of the fittings, fixtures and furniture.

As well as eating in the restaurant, customers have the option to order in advance from the website and pick up their order from one of the restaurant’s hot lockers, a wall of locked storage units that keep the food warm until pick up.

CEO of Famously Proper Ltd, Gavin Cox, said: “We are extremely excited to be taking this cult favourite, street food chicken brand from its origins of one food truck to its new bricks and mortar restaurant (the first for the brand) in Islington this May. We have solid plans to expand Mother Clucker across the country in the coming months/years, so watch this space.”
