Scottish chef launches new pie takeaway venture in London
The pies are also available to order from frozen so customers can cook them at home, and available for delivery on Deliveroo
Scottish chef Mark Greenaway has announced the opening of a new takeaway venue in Villiers Street, London.Â
Greenaway’s Pie and Mash, which was created by the chef to sell “traditional London pies”, is set open 12 April.Â
Greenaway, who has 25 years of culinary experience said he wanted to craft pies “that evoked feelings from his childhood and set about creating a joyful, comforting experience to his customers”.Â
It comes as the number of pie shops in London is dwindling, with the chef discovering that there used to be “more than 110 and now there are around 20”.Â
Greenaway said he saw this decline as an opportunity “to bring back a classic to the capital”.Â
The pies are also available to order from frozen so customers can cook them at home, and available for delivery on Deliveroo.Â
Greenaway said: “Opening a pie and mash shop is not something I would have thought about doing a year ago. However, living and learning the culture here in London during lockdown has pivoted my thinking and almost excited me to look for other opportunities ahead of my signature restaurant opening In the summer.”
