The Alverton appoints new head chef
Ollie Wyatt has over 10 years of experience, with his style of cooking favouring high-quality, locally-sourced ingredients from Cornish land and water
The Alverton, a converted convent on the outskirts of Truro in Cornwall, has announced the appointment of Ollie Wyatt as the restaurant’s new head chef.
Prior to his appointment, Wyatt was formerly the sous chef at Michael Caines’ restaurant, The Cove. He has over 10 years of experience, with his style of cooking reportedly favouring high-quality, locally-sourced ingredients from Cornish land and water.
In his new role at The Alverton, he will reportedly continue to advance the menu, as well as commit to community involvement at the AA Rosette-winning restaurant.
As well as adding new dishes to the menu, Wyatt will also be introducing some “intimate” tasting experiences at the restaurant, with one of the first being a ‘Taste of Truro’ game evening on 24 November.
The Alverton has been situated in a grade II-listed building since 1830 and still offers all of its original features within its 51 bedrooms.
Ben Young, managing director of the Cornwall Hotel Collection, said: “We’re really looking forward to Ollie’s presence continuing The Alverton’s reputation for dining, as we go above and beyond to provide the very best of Cornish cuisine for our guests.
“It’s an exciting time for us as we continue to develop our menu and our team to match the demand for good food and hospitality in Cornwall.”
