The Grand in York will open its new fine-dining restaurant, Legacy, this summer, which has a seating capacity for up to 26 covers
The Grand in York, the city’s “finest” hotel, has announced the launch of its new fine-dining restaurant, Legacy, later this month (June 2022).
Head chef Ahmed Abdalla has been appointed at the new restaurant and he will reportedly focus on modern British cuisine with a menu made up of locally sourced ingredients.
Abdalla’s professional background as a chef also includes York restaurant, Skosh, as well as Yorebridge House in The Dales and restaurant Lucknam Park and Whatley Manor’s restaurant, The Dining Room.
Legacy is set to launch this summer and its interiors have been constructed by Faber, an industry-leading designer that has made environmentally conscious choices throughout the process.
The setting will be “bold yet elegant” and has a seating capacity for up to 26 covers.
Abdalla said: “I am incredibly excited about crafting a truly unique fine-dining experience at Legacy by immersing different elements of the journey for guests.
“This must be a destination offering more than just great food, as I want to really elevate the guest experience from start to finish. I look forward to enhancing The Grand’s renowned traditional offering by utilising a modern approach to British cuisine.”
Simon Mahon, general manager at The Grand, said: “We are delighted to be advancing the hotel’s culinary offering in such a unique way. Undoubtedly, this will enhance our guests’ experience, particularly so for those who are enthused by fine dining and the best of British cuisine.
“Adding to this, it will elevate our wonderful city’s growing food scene, and this is something we cannot wait to be part of!”
