Yum Brands digital sales reach £5.3bn in Q3

KFC, Taco Bell and Pizza Hut’s parent company grew its worldwide system sales by 7%, while same-store sales increased by 5% during the same period

Yum Brands, the parent company of KFC, Taco Bell and Pizza Hut, revealed its digital sales reached approximately $6bn (£5.3bn), with digital mix exceeding 40%, during the third quarter ended 30 September 2022. 

The parent company also revealed that its Q3 GAAP operating profit grew by 4%, while its core operating profit increased by 8% in the same period ended 30 September 2022.

It is also reported that the brand’s worldwide system sales grew by 7%, while same-store sales increased by 5% and unit growth rose by 4% during the third quarter.  

During the third quarter, the company reportedly added 979 gross units, resulting in 644 net-new units. 

However, the group’s removal of Russia-based operations impacted profit by $39m (£34.6m). In addition, Yum reportedly excluded Russian same-store sales results from the third quarter. 

David Gibbs, CEO of Yum Brands, said: “I’m pleased to report another strong quarter for Yum, with system sales growth driven by strong demand for our iconic brands, increased digital adoption and continued momentum on unit development. 

“Our three global brands delivered widespread system sales growth, once again demonstrating that our globally diversified business, led by our world-class teams and franchisees, can thrive in any environment.”
