The Albion pub hits the market after 20 years

The pub has been owned and operated by Ann and Bob Taylor and has come to market as they look to retire

The Albion, a popular pub in Roker Sunderland, has recently hit the market for the first time in 20 years for an undisclosed amount.

Occupying a two-storey property in a busy housing area, The Albion is located along an established drinking circuit, within walking distance to the Stadium of Light, the River Wear.

The pub is well maintained throughout with a bar and lounge area, as well as large living accommodation and a garden to the side.

The Albion presents an opportunity for an owner-operator to purchase a large, well-positioned and supported business, and to operate along the same lines as the current owner. Alternatively, an experienced operator or multi-site operator could expand the current offering and run the business as a managed house.

The pub has been owned and operated by Ann and Bob Taylor for the past 20 years and has come to market as they look to retire.

They said: “The Albion is a real hub of the community where people of all ages and from all walks of life come and meet. It is what a true pub should be; a place to meet for any occasion. It has not been an easy decision to place The Albion for sale, however, after more than 20 years in the industry, it is time for us to both enjoy a much-needed retirement.”

Marslie McGregor, business agent at Christie and Co, who is handling the sale, said: “This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a well-known community pub in the heart of Roker. Close to Sunderland’s Stadium of Light and part of an established drinking circuit, we anticipate a good level of interest in The Albion and look forward to securing a buyer for Bob and Ann.”
