The Freak Scene reopens in Fulham

Scott Hallsworth had already launched the restaurant in Soho but was forced to close when covid hit

Pan-Asian restaurant The Freak Scene has reopened its doors on Parsons Green on 22 March after being forced to close down its original location during lockdown.

Ex-Nobu Chef Scott Hallsworth initially opened Freak Scene as a pop-up restaurant in Farringdon and seven months later found a new home in Soho. But when the pandemic came, Hallsworth like many others was forced to close down.

Reflecting on that time, Hallsworth said: “Reluctantly, we stripped the place out and kept most of our fixtures and fittings in a storage unit. In a way, I’m grateful that I’ve had the time to re-think and even re-brand Freak Scene. The Freak Scene in Parsons Green is the Freak Scene I dreamed it could be, even back then!”

The new site in Parsons Green was able to launch also thanks to a collaboration with Australian comedian, author, radio and television presenter Adam Hills. Being a longtime admirer of Freak Scene and Scott Hallsworth’s cooking, Hills decided to invest in the new restaurant, which has 46 covers.

The new menu includes many of the classics that belonged to the old menu, including salmon sashimi pizza, black cod tacos and ‘magical cabbage’ with dried miso truffle and ponzu.

Speaking about the new opening, Hallsworth said: “I’m stoked to be back in Fulham, almost a decade after I launched my first post-Nobu restaurant on the King’s Road.”
