The Long Lane cocktail bar opens its doors

Babel, founded by the team behind Yeah! Burger, has created a menu with a collection of small plates.

The Long Lane, a cocktail bar and eatery, has opened its doors in Smithfield, London. The new venue will be a bar and eatery with food exclusively provided by Babel. 

Developed by the team behind cocktail bar The Racketeer in King’s Cross, The Long Lane is the latest opening by three veterans of the London hospitality scene, Jack Foxcroft, Tyvian Vigrass and Marco Torre. 

The new venue’s design is “both industrial and contemporary” with exposed brick work keeping in line with The Racketeer’s signature dark blue motif.

The cocktail menu will include Unfinished Fizzness made from Vodka, Apricot, Cynar and Citrus, as well as Black Spice made of 100 proof Rye Whiskey, PX Sherry, Fernet Branca and Dry Orange Curacao.

Foxcroft, Vigrass, and Torre said: “A zestful experience accompanied by a menu of avant-garde cocktails, this chic spot is the latest opening in Smithfield. Our nuanced design is an archive of art deco meets contemporary, and will serve as a go-to hangout for all in search of a welcoming and lively evening. 

“The Long Lane brings a new sense of intimacy to the London food and nightlife scene, particularly post-pandemic. A warm spot in the neighbourhood where conversations will oscillate through attentive and personable service, as well as impeccable food, and drink.”

They added: “The Long Lane was established by experienced creatives, seeking to build a bar and eatery around classic cocktails with an unconventional twist, a stylish soundtrack and a zeal for conversation. We’re excited to bring our latest offering to the capital, as travel returns and locals are out again in the city.”

The trio have over 60 years’ experience between the trio running some of London’s most iconic music venues such as AKA / The End and Village Underground, Hawksmoor Spitalfields and Palomar in Soho.

The Long Lane is open from Wednesday to Friday, from 12pm to 12am, and Saturday from 4pm to 12am.
