Today’s news in brief – 06/09/24

The APPG for hospitality and tourism elected Chris Webb MP as its chair yesterday (5 September) at a meeting in Westminster. Damian Hinds, Conservative MP for East Hampshire, Caroline Voaden, Liberal Democrat MP for South Devon, and Daniel Aldridge, Labour MP for Weston-super-Mare, were also elected as vice-chairs. 

Elior has agreed a new deal with Scottish professional FC Rangers. Known and trusted by the club for its previous catering work at Ibrox, Elior has plans for the development and enhancement of its offering to the club’s supporters on matchdays and matchdays. The deal will see them assume responsibility for all food and beverage.

Long Chim will open its first ever residency in Soho, London. Located on Rupert Street, the restaurant will take over the ground floor of Hovarda. The site will be led by David Thompson who left London for his adopted home in Bangkok more than 10 years ago. The concept and menu will utilise Thompson’s knowledge of Bangkok’s dishes.

The Emory Rooftop Bar in Knightsbridge has opened a pop-up with Argentinian bartender Renato ‘Tato’ Giovannoni today (6 September). Giovannoni is the founder of Florería Atlántico bar in Buenos Aires and winner of the World’s 50 Best Bars Industry Icon Award. Open until 5 November, the pop-up will serve a menu inspired by Buenos Aires.
