Deliveroo has returned to profit following a strong performance in H1. This comes after sustaining a loss of £82.9m in the year before. The group attributed its performance to “encouraging early signs in consumer behaviour”, with frequency returning to growth and retention improving due to improvements made to its consumer value proposition.
Compass Group’s Restaurant Associates has acquired Grazing for an undisclosed amount. The delivered-in workplace and venue catering group was founded in 2007 and has grown from one café to a corporate catering business offering delivered-in meeting, office and contract catering services to London’s business and industry sector.
Tortilla has launched its first app that includes a new loyalty scheme, building on the group’s new strategy which focuses on investing in technology along with the brand to drive growth. The new app brings everything together in one place to allow customers to collect stamps, unlock rewards, order ahead, find their nearest restaurant and enjoy exclusive perks.
Greene King is taking part in a reusable bottle scheme where certain glass bottles are returned to drinks producers for refilling as a way to cut the number of single-use glass bottles. It comes as the pub group is exploring new ways to reduce waste and carbon emissions with the goal to be net zero by 2040.
HOSPA Professional Development has launched an IT Leadership workshop, following a successful pilot programme. Taking the form of a two-hour webinar/seminar with options for hybrid or in-person delivery, the course is designed for senior leaders in hospitality. The pilot was attended by senior leaders from Watergate Bay Hotel Group and received “exceptional feedback”.
