Krispy Kreme’s revenues increased 5.7% to $442.7m (£353.2m) in Q1. Organic revenue for the group grew 6.7%, fueled by a 19.4% increase in points of access and the success of global brand activations including Valentine’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day doughnuts.

Transactions at pubs, bars and clubs reached a 2024-high on Saturday 4 May, as the sunny weather and bank holiday weekend encouraged Brits to make a trip to their local area, according to Barclays Consumer Spend data. In spite of the rainy weather, Brits made the most of the long bank holiday weekend and celebrated the Coronation.

Some 71% of hospitality operators will invest in refurbishments in the next year, a new survey from trade organisations has revealed. Despite cost pressures, 95% of operators are planning to invest in customer service, 92% in staff training, all up significantly on last quarter.

Greggs opened its 2,500th shop, hitting a “significant” milestone in its estate expansion strategy. In 2021, the group launched its five-year growth plan, which outlined its ambition to reach over 3,000 shops across the UK in the long-term.
