Brakspear is investing £2m to refurbish two leased and tenanted pubs in partnership with pub companies Little and Large and Friendship and Beer. These agreements exemplify Brakspear’s commitment to its leased and tenanted estate, recognising the value of partnering with talented operators. The agreements are structured as turnover tenancies, aligning the success of both the operators and Brakspear.
St Austell Brewery has partnered with Olio, a food waste app, to distribute surplus food from its South West pubs. Any unused food from St Austell’s managed pubs will be collected and made available on the Olio app for local people to request and collect. In a trial across nine pubs, over 300 portions of food were donated, feeding 32 local families. The partnership will expand across St Austell’s managed estate, benefiting communities and reducing food waste.
Some 375 companies operating across 4,738 sites have started their journey towards achieving net zero emissions, thanks to UKH’s carbon calculator, which was developed in collaboration with Sky Zero and the Zero Carbon Forum. Kate Nicholls, CEO of UKH, emphasised the importance of understanding and reducing carbon footprints for businesses and expressed gratitude to their partners for their support in this endeavour.
The Boswell Arms pub in Auchinleck, Cumnock, is on the market for £395k. Known for its food and drink, it’s popular among locals, especially due to its proximity to Auchinleck Talbot football club. The main bar area has been recently upgraded, offering modern decor and comfortable seating. The first-floor restaurant accommodates 40 customers and provides a cosy atmosphere. After 23 years, owners Robert and Heather Beatson are selling to retire.
