WHSmith has launched Smith’s Kitchen – an new own-brand café format – as the retailer found that food-to-go and meal deals are one of the key reasons customers come into stores. The first Smith’s Kitchen officially opened yesterday (15 August) in Princess Anne Hospital, Southampton

UKH Scotland has urged Edinburgh to adopt cost recovery to its visitor levy, after a draft of the scheme was published ahead of the Policy and Sustainability Committee meeting that is scheduled for next week. UKH said it is essential to “ensure the scheme doesn’t impede the ability of accommodation providers to invest, grow the economy and create jobs”.

Atis will open its eighth London location in Eastcheap on 2 September. The salad bar brand will offer customisable salad bowls, protein plates, and classic favourites such as the Azteca and Seiz’a Caesar bowls. Taco Bell UK has launched Encore Hours, which will extend closing from 10pm to 2am at select stores. The decision comes as the fast food noticed that music fans often “face the tough choice of missing their favourite artists’ encore or grabbing a bite to eat”. The first Encore Hours began yesterday (15 August) at Taco Bell Wembley High Road.
