Today’s news in brief – 19/04/24

Asda has appointed Mac Plumton as the new MD of Leon. He will succeed Ashley Davis, who has served in an interim capacity as MD since November 2023. Plumpton held senior positions at Tapas Revolution for 10 years until 2020, first as operations director and then as MD from November 2016. Asda acquired Leon from EG Group in a £2.07bn deal in May 2023. 

Six new F&B additions are set to open in Soho’s Shaftesbury Capital portfolio. Kingly Street has welcomed two new signings from The Counter and Little Door and Co, alongside the upsize of pub and cocktail bar, Two Floors. Debuting at 15-16 Kingly Street this May, is contemporary Aegean restaurant The Counter. There is also a 30-cover downstairs bar, Under The Counter, with cocktails drawing inspiration from Greece, Turkey, the Mediterranean and Levant.

Rangeford Villages has appointed Danijel Furjan to manage its new restaurant, The Orangery. The new venue at Siddington Park village in Cirencester will open to the public on 13 May for lunch every day and dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings. Furjan was born and raised in Northern Italy, and moved to Cirencester 14 years ago at just 20 years old.
