Punch Pubs and Co has named Andy Spencer its new CEO, effective from 27 September. It comes after current CEO Clive Chesser will be moving on to the same role at the Pure Gym Group after six years at the pub operator. Spencer has over 20 years of experience in the pub sector, holding senior roles at Greene King, Brewhouse and Kitchen before.

Boston Tea Party saw a 5% drop in net sales in the year to October 2023, due to inflationary pressure and its long-term negative effects on the high street. However, the group maintains that it has continued to mitigate these risks by delivering great customer service and menu innovation. BTP ended the financial year with 23 cafés.

EG on the Move has rolled out more UK Cinnabon stores. As the master franchisee, it has recently opened stores at the Bullring in Birmingham and in Livingston, Scotland, as part of the brand’s plans to expand its reach. EG on the Move is also planning to open at least six more stores before the end of the year.

Robinsons Brewery has completed the refurb of The Alexandra, a Grade II-listed pub in Edgeley. The Alexandra now boasts a new bar area and toilets, where the original black and white Victorian tiled floor was uncovered. In the bar area, the removal of a low false ceiling has revealed the original ceiling and coving, restoring the space to its former grandeur.
