UKH Scotland has warned against Edinburgh’s “unsustainable” visitor levy. The trade body believes that the visitor levy should be kept “to a reasonable minimum”, as failure to do so will increase costs for both visitors and businesses in the city. In light of the council’s vote on a higher levy than proposed, UKH will consult with members across Edinburgh

Shepherd Neame has launched its first pizza wagon, Little Tom, offering handmade sourdough pizzas to eat in or take away at its pubs. Little Tom is currently situated at the Ship and Trades in Chatham Maritime, where it will be open from 4pm this Friday (23 August) and from 12 noon on Saturday (24 August).

The Savoy will be opening the Savoy Lounge in November, having closed the Thames Foyer on Wednesday 21 August. The space will now undergo a complete transformation and will also have new menus implemented. Design studio BradyWilliams has been appointed to lead the redesign of the space. The hotel will also open two more outlets in November.

The hospitality sector’s insurance claims spiked year-over-year by 100% in July, according to trade credit insurer Atradius. This comes despite overall claims in the F&B sector declining by 75% in the same month. The group’s data on late and failed payment claims has shown that the industry is performing well, partly due to the rise of staycations.
