Today’s news in brief – 28/08/24

Contract caterers achieved a sales rise by 10% in Q2, marking its 13th quarter of growth in a row and an improvement rate of 7% recorded in the first quarter of this year. The strong performance comes despite another fall in the outlets served by contract caterers, as they now occupied 3% fewer units in Q2 than 12 months earlier.

Prezzo has begun a refurbishment programme, with several of its restaurants having already completed their transformation. In the last three months, Prezzo has completed several refurbishments of select restaurants across the UK, whilst more refurbishments across other venues will be taking place in 2025.

Dronfield Woodhouse has closed a pub for a £310k refurbishment. Star Pubs and new licensee Jon Church have begun work on The Miners Arms, which will benefit from a renovation and redecoration of the exterior. They will also replace the signage and lighting, and spruce up the large garden with new planting and furniture.

De Nadas will open a 20-seater shop on Stoke Newington Church Street, London. The empanada specialist, which first launched on Notting Hill’s Golborne Road in 2022, followed by Shoreditch’s Rivington Street, will open the new shop in North London in September. The new shop will also feature a Vinyl Wine Room.
