Chipotle’s revenues rose 14.1% to $2.7bn (£2.3m) during Q1 ended 31 March. The group has attributed its performance to sales increasing 7% due to transactions growing by more than 5% as margins expanded, as it opened 47 new restaurants. For the remainder of 2024, Chipotle is anticipating full-year comparable restaurant sales growth to be in the mid to high-single digit range.
Parliament has launched an APPG inquiry into hospitality recruitment and retention, which will be led by an influential group of parliamentarians and explore the reasons behind high vacancy rates, ask what more the sector can do and make a series of recommendations to the government.
Chef Tom Waters will open his pop-up restaurant Gorse in a permanent venue in Pontcanna, Cardiff, on 28 May. Over the last 18 months, Waters has been bringing his Gorse to independent venues around the Welsh capital, including Ground Bakery in Pontcanna, Insole Court in Llandaff and Waterloo Tea in Roath.
The Albion pub in Roker, Sunderland, is up for sale for the first time in 20 years for an undisclosed amount. The pub is well maintained throughout with a bar and lounge area, as well as large living accommodation and a garden to the side.
