Incipio Group to open The Libertine at The Royal Exchange

The space will be a destination for parties, drinking and dining, from morning through to late night

Incipio Group has announced the launch of The Libertine, a 7,000 sq ft venue that will open at The Royal Exchange in October 2022. The venue will comprise a large destination bar, casual drinks and dining spaces, two private dining rooms, and a main restaurant.

The Royal Exchange is a historical site and was first opened by Queen Elizabeth I in 1571, who also granted it a licence to sell alcohol and expensive goods.

It is reported that The Libertine will be a place of “celebration and generous hospitality”, paying homage to its rich and fruitful history with “free-spirited hedonism” at its centre. The space will be a destination for parties, drinking and dining, from morning through to late night.

The venue will reportedly open after a significant investment in the property. Its opening will “mark a new chapter” for Incipio as it is the group’s first venue in the city.

Incipio’s CEO, Ed Devenport, said that The Libertine signifies a “full circle” moment, having started his career close to the Royal Exchange.

He now returns to launch “one of 2022’s most significant hospitality venues” within its walls.

Since securing the site in 2019, the concept has been directed by extensive research into the history and stories of the Square Mile. The Libertine will “showcase Incipio’s unwavering commitment to creating elevated consumer lifestyle concepts” across the capital.

Further details are yet to be announced.
